#2 - Lucky Dube Tribute
As many of you already know, yesterday, Lucky Dube was killed outside of Johannesburg in his native South Africa. Heartbeat sends our sincere condolences to Lucky Dube’s family, and to all the fans who were touched by Lucky Dube’s music and message.

From Hearbeat’s Chris Wilson:
Lucky Dube’s death, and the circumstance surrounding its occurrence, is not only a profound shock but it also goes against all that Lucky Dube stood for and worked for throughout his life. He was not only one of South Africa’s greatest artists but he was one of a handful of artists who made a mark in the Reggae world who were not from Jamaica. His stance against apartheid and the oppression of his fellow black brethren resulted in the banning of his first album Rasta Never Die by the South African government in 1985. Lucky Dube might have left us, but the power of his message will never die.

HIS MUSIC IS THE ONLY MUSIC I TOOK INTEREST IN. THE ONLY MUSIC THAT MEANS SOMETHING TO ME. HIS MUSIC WAS THE GREATEST. I WILL NEVER FORGET IT, NEVER, NEVER……………….I GET SAD EVERY TIME I THINK THAT I WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO SEE HIM PERFORM AGAIN.
LUCKY…..MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PEACE………….BUT MAY YOUR MUSIC CONTINUE TO SPREAD THE MESSAGE…………NEAR AND FAR. MAY IT TOUCH THE HEARTS OF THOSE WHO CONTINUE TO FIGHT AGAINST EACH OTHER…..MAY THE GOVERMENT MAKE SOME RADICAL CHANGES ESPECIALLY IN SOUTH AFRICA WHERE OPPRESSION IS SO PREVALENT.
FOR YOUR SAKE I HOPE THAT ONE DAY,,”EVERYONE LIVES TOGETHER AS ONE”.
I woke up this morning to go to work, and as in every morning, I picked my “CD of the Day” to listen to on my way to and back from work.
Almost always, it is one of Lucky Dube’s CDs from my extensive collection of his works.
At work, I was sitting with a prospective client who broke the news to me of Lucky’s untimely passing. I am still in shock.
I am from the Dominican Republic and live in the United States…living proof of his impact and the boundary-breaking nature of Lucky’s music.
I feel that I have lost a brother, a teacher, a friend…
Due to the nature of my work, I am trying to contain the sadness in my heart…I know that I will fall apart once I drive home with Lucky’s beautiful voice to console me.
To his family, please know that I, along with his millions of fans, are also part of you and grieve with you.
I love Lucky Dube, his music continues to motivate me, inspire me, elevate me, and forever will he be in my heart.
Let justice prevail. Luck, they took life off you but not what you dreamed about. You will exist in every blackman, whiteman across africa and the world. one luv dube MYRIP

the big bad wolf snatches another piglet
hello,
i am so weak when i hard the sucking of my late God father LUCKY DUBE has been shot, i was down and i cried the day i head the news.
lucky is a great man by birth and may his music continues to spread the message to all nations in the world, because those who killed this king of reggae have no fear in GOD, definitely they can even pregnant their sisters and aunty, because lucky is a great man to remember here in NIGERIA as a whole, but to me henry aliex JEGBO, OR GBORO loves his music since i was born and brought up so i wonder this stupid man who killed my God father king lucky dube, and they must suffer it because lucky is too young to leave his family and the kids.
i am not happy of his death, i can even sung all his music from the end to the beginning because if you seem lucky you have seem me ok, and my family normally asked me weather i am lucky dube because i have every music of lucky dube and at times i play it as early as in the morning when he was alive, but now look the world have taken him away from me and i pray that may his gentle soul, rest in peace and may God grant the family of lucky dube a peaceful heart and amen.
